I bought avowed almost immediately because I’m a massive fan of both Pillars of Eternity games, I don’t think it really lived up to what I was expecting. I was hoping for a big more open world in the sense of like, “please let me open every cabinet and drawer I can see even if there’s nothing in there.” But overall I think it’s a great game, I’m still hoping for a 3rd addition to the Pillars of Eternity series though!
Before the press of Avowed I hadn’t heard of that series of games. Must be exciting to see a new game in that universe but I can understand the element of free-messing a bit. I was initially dumb founded by how few doors I could enter. Now I don’t mind so much. I’m probably 3/4 through the story now. I want to just keep playing but sleep is still needed. Haha.
That’s fair. I think the areas and characters are unique enough to keep me going to complete it. And the main storyline is intriguing me more and more. I’m about to go to the next area tonight but art wise I’ve loved this third biome I’ve just explored. Excited to see what’s next. Hehe.
The game looks absolutely gorgeous and I can see your point about focusing on the main story—it's nice to be able to without getting completely sidetracked!
Ooo I'm intrigued by this! I'm clueless in games and have gotten lost, not triggered important quests, or just found myself wandering aimlessly for hours many times! 😅
I am notorious for not being able to read maps in real life let alone video games 😅🤣 but as avowed is in these like chapters per map I’m only getting lost a little bit for a chunk of time and not all the time 🤣
Okay, I need to do some rescheduling because I really neeeeed to play Avowed.

Thank you for your first impressions! Really helpful—I think I'll wait and get it later when I'm more in the mood for slightly more repetition.

I swear maps in video games are made especially to trip us up! 😂
